Cancer prevention through diet


University Institute of Diet and Nutritional Sciences observed “World Cancer Day” on 29/3/2013. The purpose of this activity was to create awareness among audience/ students regarding dietary role in prevention of cancer.

The activity was started in the university auditorium with Recitation of the Holy-Quran. After that the three speakers Ms. Rashada Khalid, Clinical Nutritionist of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital,  Ms. Nida Aslam, Senior Pharmacist of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Ms. Shahnai Basharat, Acting HOD, UIDNS delivered very interesting state of the art lectures on prevention of cancer through Diet. The lectures were followed by Question/Answer session; handouts having useful information on role of diet in prevention of cancer were also distributed to the participants.

The whole activity was not only helpful in creating awareness regarding to what overall the experts say about prevention of this disease but also to motivate the audience to take preventive measures for the same.
